Subjects of the King, Children of the Father
Introduction:
Good morning/afternoon.
Today, I want to speak directly to the heart of something we too often forget in our faith walk.
God is not just our Provider. He is our King.
Jesus is not just our Savior. He is our Lord.
Some of us pray as if we’re talking to a genie—expecting blessings, breakthroughs, and favor, without surrender, obedience, or reverence.
But we weren’t called to use God. We were called to serve God.
We don’t belong to a democracy.
We belong to a Kingdom.
Point 1: Christ Is King—We Are His Servants
Revelation 19:16 (NIV): “On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
This is the Jesus we serve—not a passive helper, but the conquering King.
Luke 6:46 (NIV): “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
If Jesus is King, then His word is final. His will is supreme. And our role? Obedience. Loyalty. Servanthood.
We are His subjects. And subjects don’t give the orders—they carry them out.
Point 2: A King Owes Nothing—But God Gives Everything
Here’s the beauty of our King:
In earthly kingdoms, kings demand everything and give little.
But our God—though He owes us nothing—gave us everything.
Romans 5:8 (NIV): “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
He is the only King who died for His people, the only Ruler who humbled Himself to lift us up.
So yes—we are His servants.
But He treats us with the love of a Father.
Point 3: Servants by Position, Sons and Daughters by Grace
Through the blood of Jesus, we don’t just serve God—we belong to Him.
Galatians 4:7 (NIV): “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”
That’s the mystery of the Kingdom: We bow before the King… and yet He calls us sons and daughters.
We obey not out of fear, but out of honor and love—because He first loved us.
Point 4: Obedience Is the Path to Inheritance
God is not a genie—but He is a rewarder.
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV): “…anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
John 14:23 (NIV): “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
The blessings come after the obedience.
The presence comes after the pursuit.
You want favor? Walk in faithfulness.
You want blessing? Walk in obedience.
You want kingdom impact? Live under the rule of the King.
Point 5: Kingdom Mindset, Not Consumer Faith
Let’s stop treating God like a cosmic vending machine.
Let’s stop approaching church like a service provider.
We are Kingdom people. That means:
- We live by the King’s law.
- We serve the King’s will.
- We seek the King’s glory.
Matthew 6:10 (NIV): “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
When we align with the King, we begin to walk in the fullness of His Kingdom.
Conclusion: Subjects of the King. Children of the Father.
So today, I challenge you—stop asking, “What can God do for me?”
And start asking, “What can I do for the King?”
Because when we submit as servants, He embraces us as sons.
When we kneel in reverence, He lifts us with grace.
Let us return to a Kingdom mindset:
Honor the King. Serve the King. Obey the King.
And watch how your life is transformed—not by what you demand, but by what He gives in love.
